Gipsy quality Steel

Sometimes a Gipsy has reached the end of the line and the only place left to go is the scrapyard. This Gipsy yielded quite a few spare parts for our grey machine.
We saved all the mechanical parts like the engine and drive train of course.

It's so easy to remove an engine from a bare chassis.
We cut the body and chassis into manageable pieces. I found it interesting to see a weld on the inside of the chassis rails in perfect condition. I could still see the blue metal around the weld. There was no corrosion at all inside the unpainted rail. Amazing after 50 years or so.
We cut the body and chassis into manageable pieces.
The body didn't fare that well though. The bulkhead was badly corroded. It is always sad to scrap a car, but at least this one will help others to survive.
The Gipsy cut into bits. Ready to be taken away for scrap. The parts of the body an chassis amounted to only about 300kg of metal, so I must have taken off and stored about a tonne of parts from this car.
